THE LILAC ZONE (Now being updated again!)
This lilac is another mature specimen over 20' tall that was propagated by the same lilac propagator that produced what I am currently referring to as "New Blue" and can be found in the same private collection. Though I have visited the collection multiple times over the years, it wasn't until this year that this specimen really grabbed my attention. It produces beautiful light violet double flowers and in combination with pale violet unopened buds, the panicles are visually exquisite. Fortunately, this specimen had produced several suckers, so I was fortunate enough to be able to dig one up and take it home to plant out for further observation. It has tentatively been deemed "Vermont Violet".
